Seymour bills itself as the birthplace of the hamburger, tracing the origin to Charlie Nagreen, who sold ground beef patties on a bun at the Outagamie County Fair here in 1885. The claim has a competing claimant in Hamburg, New York, but Seymour has owned the story for generations and hosts Burger Fest annually, an event that draws visitors from across the region and keeps the tradition alive without taking itself too seriously.
