Green Bay

Green Bay is the third largest city in Wisconsin, with a population of around 110,000 and a metro area approaching 330,000. It sits at the southern end of the bay of Green Bay, an inlet of Lake Michigan, at the mouth of the Fox River. That geography has defined the city since its founding as a fur trading post in the 1600s, making it one of the oldest European settlements in the Great Lakes region. Today it is a mid-size city with a serious identity, a stable economy, and one of the most recognizable sports franchises in American professional sports. 

 Lambeau Field and the Green Bay Packers are not background detail here. They are central to how the city functions, how it draws visitors, and how residents relate to where they live. The Packers are publicly owned, a structure unique in American professional sports, which means the franchise belongs to the community in a legal and cultural sense that goes beyond fan loyalty. Game days reshape the city. The Titletown District adjacent to Lambeau has added hotels, restaurants, office space, and year-round public gathering space that has become one of the more active mixed-use developments in the region.
