De Pere

De Pere is a city in Brown County situated along both banks of the Fox River, roughly six miles south of downtown Green Bay. With a population of around 25,000, it is one of the larger communities in the metro area and carries one of the more distinct identities in Northeast Wisconsin. The city's recorded history traces back to 1671, when a French mission was established here by Father Claude Allouez, making it one of the oldest European settlements in the upper Midwest.

Downtown De Pere runs along George Street and the riverfront, with locally owned restaurants, shops, and gathering spaces that hold up well against any comparable downtown in the region. St. Norbert College anchors the west side of the city and contributes to the cultural and economic life of De Pere year-round. The pedestrian bridge connecting the east and west banks is a genuine community asset, and the Fox River trail system gives residents direct access to water and green space from most parts of the city.
