Join us as we dive into the heart of Appleton through this incredible festival.
At its heart, Mile of Music is the brainchild of Dave Willems and local artist Corey Chisel, driven by a vision to celebrate original music and strengthen community bonds. From its modest debut featuring 100 acts, the festival has grown exponentially, attracting talent from around the globe while enhancing Appleton’s cultural footprint.
Dave Willems, armed with a passion for music and a desire to invigorate Appleton’s downtown, partnered with Corey Chisel to bring their vision to life. What started as a grassroots initiative has evolved into a festival that not only showcases diverse musical genres but also fosters a deep sense of connection among attendees.
What sets Mile of Music apart is its inclusivity — unlike many festivals, it’s free for all, inviting a diverse audience to enjoy a spectrum of musical genres in venues ranging from cozy cafes to expansive outdoor stages.
Central to its charm is the Artist Care Program, a testament to the festival’s commitment to nurturing talent. Spearheaded by Willems, this initiative ensures artists receive not just medical care but also a supportive environment that fuels creativity. Such efforts have earned national acclaim, featured in Rolling Stone and soon in a PBS Wisconsin documentary.
For locals, Mile of Music isn’t just an event; it’s a cultural touchstone and a beloved reunion. Families, friends, and newcomers alike gather to soak in the music, creating cherished memories and strengthening community ties.
This year, Mile of Music celebrates Mile 11 from August 1-4, 2024, promising an even more spectacular experience with 200 artists performing across 40 venues throughout Downtown Appleton!
